Tuesday Top

This week I have been looking at bases in colours other than white - like this mixed BFL from KittyMineCrafts.

The range of darker colours in the undyed top give great tonal shades and depth of colour to the dye job.

Etsy Update

I've added a few items to my Etsy store.  There are some new handpainted braids at the moment and  soon there will be some handspun yarns added - I made several during the TDF.

Beer and Bomb 3

And here we go again.

Is it just because it is two things that I am interested in that I keep running into yarn bombing and craft breweries in the same locaities or are the the two actually linked?

On the way back from the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show we dropped into one of our favourite local breweries, Holgate in Woodend.  Across the road at the library there was some pretty good yarn bombing, a bench and a tree.  It was cold and raining so it was all a bit soggy, I got a couple of pics and then went inside to enjoy a Temptress and a Roadtrip.

Australian Sheep and Wool Show

This weekend I went to the Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo.  I've been wanting to go for a few years and now that I live in Melbourne it is much easier to get there.

It was really cold and wet for the whole weekend but it was definately fun.  There were lots of things to see and do.  I love the sheep dog trials and I watched some sheep judging and shearing competitions too.  Some of the entries in the Woolcraft Competition are almost unbelievably good and how much fun is it to debate the judges' decisions?  I, of course, stocked up on some spinning supplies.  I'm most happy with some of the naturally coloured top that I bought, I can't wait to spin it up.

Tuesday Top

I've been having fun taking part in the TDF.

One of the things I like is checking out what everyone else is spinning.  One of my faves so far has been some fibres from Hello Yarn. They are very popular and can be kind of hard to get hold of by the look of things.  Their clubs are highly recommended as well.

This is one of my favourites, "Critter" on Falkland:

New Caledonia

Last week I was in New Caledonia for the "Australian" Passing Convention.  Despite car accidents and unseasonably cyclonic weather I had a great time.

Some juggling - we almost learnt Scrambled 3 B on Toast and I passed nine clubs quite successfully.

Some food - ate lots of bread, cheese, ananas and a coconut we picked up off the ground.

Some spinning - spun on my new Turkish Spindle, gotta spin everyday for the Tour de Fleece!

Tuesday Top

Just got back from a juggling convention in New Caledonia.  Should have taken this fibre with me as the actual cocktail was elusive.
