Tuesday Top

I've been stalking the SAL in the Completely Twisted and Arbitrary group on Ravelry.  This time they are featuring Three Waters Farm, so I've seen lots of amazing fibre being turned into amazing yarn.

This one isn't the SAL colourway but you get the idea of the pretty colour mixes that Three Waters Farm make.

In Progress

I really like knitting sweaters but I always seem to end up not wearing them.  This doesn't actually surprise me too much, I do tend to like the process more than the finished item.

Here's hoping this project will be different.  I've chosen "Ravello" by Isabell Kraemer. It's a simple, top down raglan with a casual fit.  And it's got stripes, so, yay!  It's an easy knit and I'm getting through it pretty quick, can't wait to finish!

Tuesday Top

I'm excited about Mohair at the moment, so...Mohair!  Pink Mohair in fact.  From La Fiaba Russa.

Squooshy Things

I've got lotsa new fibre to try out at the moment.  I love BFL yarn for socks and so I acquired some Superwash BFL/Nylon to try and spin some sock yarn for myself.  I've already dyed up several lots but I'm going to leave some undyed and either do a gradient or selfstripe dye job on my finished yarn

The next lot of fibre that I'm going to dye up is this Mohair/Merino blend from WA.  I've never dyed Mohair before but I hear that it comes out bright and shiny.  That's something to look forward to!

Finished Things

I'm actually keeping up with the Spin the Bin Challenge.  This is the latest thing I finished:  Superwash Merino from Squoosh Fiberarts in the "Cowboy Dreams" colourway.

This is actually some of the oldest fibre in my stash.  I bought it when I first started spinning and had that beginner thing of "I'll wait until I'm better at spinning so I don't ruin it".  Unfortunately that feeling persisted. I love the colours so much in the fibre that I don't think I'll ever be happy with how the colours translate into yarn.  However, I went with a chain ply in my favourite fingering weight and I think it came out pretty good.  I am quite happy...

There has been quite a bit of knitting recently too.  I finished these Dither socks out of Shibui Sock.  They came out great and the pattern is so much fun.

And then I made these basic mitts out of awesome yarn from Tuulia I got in a Ravelry swap.  As referred to above, I love brown and blue together and this yarn comes as 50g of two complimentary colours, such a great idea.

This week some hand dyed mohair from Motomo in in the "Blue Wings" colourway. It's so shiny and I'm such a sucker for blue and brown together.

Look what I won from the wonderful Cat and Sparrow! Merino/Silk/Flax in "Come Rain or Shine".

Cat and Sparrow are a pair of Aussie fibre artists that make batts, hand dyed top and handspun yarn.  They have a spin a long in their Ravelry group.  You don't have to spin their fiber you just have to submit a photo of a skein that you spun in that month and you can win fiber from their shop.  How good is that?

As a bonus photo, this is the yarn I spun.  2 ply merino.
