Tuesday Top

And now, purple and orange.  Purple and orange go great together.  Although I must admit that I would probably avoid mixing the fibre at colour changes.  Purple and orange mixed together usually makes some kind of ick brown.

Learn all the Craft!

Went to the Lilydale Trash and Treasure market for the second time and for the second time it wasn't actually there.  We are becoming suspicious that maybe the internet lies and the market doesn't actually exist anymore.

It's ok though because we moved on to the Wantirna Trash and Treasure market which as far as I can tell is always there.

Even though we got there pretty late I still scored this awesome "Creative Craft" tome.

It's amazing, it has all the craft.  Want to try tatting, yep, that's there.  Rugmaking? Pottery? Kites?  yep, yep, yep. Upholstery? Basket Weaving? Shell Craft?  Of course, all of them!  I especially like that you can learn all these things in just a page or two.

Being from the 70's it of course has an extensive section on crochet...and macrame..

Etsy Update

Just added some Superwash BFL/Nylon tops to my Etsy Shop.

I have reserved some for me to spin as I have been meaning to spin some sock yarn for ages and have been looking for a fibre blend that would be good for hard wearing but comfy socks.  I love plain Superwash BFL for socks but I think the addition of Nylon, as long as it is well blended, makes for a longer lasting sock.

Everything I seem to dye at the moment seems to involve purple - I might have to address that in my next dyeing session.  But I love purple so much!

Blocked.

Finally got around to blocking my handspun Dragonfly Wings.

I spun the yarn last year during the TDF on my Turkish spindle. It's lighter than the fingering yarn called for in the pattern but I prefer shawlettes to full size shawls so I made it as specified in the pattern, knowing that it would come out smaller.  I think the yarn knitted up nicely - nice soft colour transitions.
